As I sit here with incredible writer’s block (after I’ve come home from a much needed relaxing weekend at my mother-in-law’s in the mountains of NC) the urge to succumb to my procrastination and “just write it tomorrow” has become so palpable I can taste it.

For some reason, the ideas that I’ve brainstormed over the past few weeks to write about weren’t sending me any sparks when I tried to write about them. I mean, every sentence sounded forced when I was trying to get some words on paper. That’s never a good thing.

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s reading a blog post that doesn’t have any real emotion or passion behind it when it’s being created; a blanket post if you will.  Well, I refuse to use a blanket post as a get out of jail free card, and I felt that my only option to prevent writing a bunch of BS (not to be confused with B+S) would be to shut down my computer and catch up on some Tokyo Ghoul and hope my inspiration comes to me tomorrow.

But just as my hand was on the power button, I looked to my right and I see my beautiful OwlCrate box sitting there on the counter in front of me, giving me a nod of recognition to my plight; providing a silent solution to my blogging dilemma. As if telepathically, the box urged, “It’s ok! Look to me Bri… I’m the answer. Go forth and tell the world why you love me so much, and maybe you can inspire someone else to give me a try. This can be another way to help the world read again. You got this!”

My heart smiled with glee and my mind swirled with confidence.  Of course, I should write about you, OwlCrate, you are my bookish best friend! Why didn’t I think of it myself?

Wait… before we go any further… What the heck is OwlCrate anyway (for those who don’t know)?

OwlCrate is a subscription-based service that delivers a theme curated box full of bookish goodies and a book of the month to your doorstep every single month.

That felt a little anticlimactic as I’m going through proofreading, but it was the short and sweet explanation of what OwlCrate really is, so hopefully, I redeem myself later.

Now, without any further ado, here are 3 reasons why you absolutely and positively need OwlCrate in your life like right now. Today.

Let’s go!

1. You’re Book Balling on a Budget

The number one reason why I love OwlCrate so very much is that you’re able to build your bookshelf and your bookish goodies arsenal at an incredibly low price.

We all know how expensive building a book collection can be, especially if you’re a hardcover collector. But with OwlCrate, you’re getting high-quality bookish items and a hardcover book every month for just 29.99 (plus shipping which brings it to about 34.99) if you live in the US. Now before you roll your eyes and think “that’s too much for some book and some book swag” you must realize what you’re getting.

First, you’re getting a hardcover (signed by the author) with an OwlCrate Exclusive cover design as your book of the month. Yeah, you read it right… OwlCrate gets special privileges from the publishers of the book to revamp the look and reimagine the design… and let me just say that the results are breathtaking! If you don’t believe me, just look for yourself:

It could be subtle changes, such as the foiling or the font, to “wow factors” such as inverted color schemes and sprayed edges. Finding out the cover design is half the excitement, and I have yet to be bored with the changes that they make.

Let’s not forget to mention that the books of the month aren’t just some regular-shmegular books that no one has heard about or cares to hear about. They are very much anticipated books in the YA (Young Adult) genre, and you’re getting dibs on these books with an original cover that will never be done again. I mean…need I say more?

Yes? Ok then…

Second, you’re getting a box full of items that are curated specifically to the theme of the box. Just look at the haul I received from my very first box with them:

They somehow manage to pack this little box to the rim, so there’s no room for disappointment.

Moving on…

Let’s just add one more hell yeah about Owlcrate: With every box, you get an exclusive enamel pin designed with your monthly book in mind by amazing artists who don’t spare their pageantry for design.

If you’re into enamel pins, then OwlCrate is sure to please with collaborations from amazing pin designers such as: Read and Wonder, Four Seasons Fox, Lapels and Spells and Laserbrain Patch Co.– to name a few. (Click their names to go to their IG accounts)

Every year, OwlCrate sends you an enamel pin banner to place all of your pins on. I love walking in my living room and seeing them all lined up by order received. One of the pins even glows in the dark, and if that ain’t cool, I don’t know what cool is.

Honestly, there’s no better bang for your buck. Before you know it, your TBR (To Be Read) will be incomprehensible, and your shelf space will be minuscule. Not to mention that all of that will be happening at a price that won’t make you curl up in the fetal position at night.  Can you say “Win-Win”?

2. Christmas in July? And August? And September?!

Who doesn’t love that feeling of opening their Christmas presents on Christmas morning? That rush of excitement to uncover what’s inside those boxes is like none other. Now… wouldn’t you want to feel that joy and anticipation every single month of the year?

Well, guess who can help make that happen. Do I even need to say it at this point? Lol. Sure do! It’s OwlCrate!

OwlCrate delivers this magical Christmasy feeling on repeat when you become a subscriber, and I must say that I don’t think I can go on if I didn’t have that little box baby to look forward to on the 15th of every month.

I just love it when I get the email that there’s a package for me in our mailroom, and I go down and see Oswald (the name of their owl mascot) peeping those peepers back at me from inside my parcel locker. I know that I’m going to be utterly surprised (except for the three spoilers they reveal the month prior to shipping) and overly impressed by what’s inside.

I know that you will love this beautifully curated faux Christmas gift delivered to you every month, just like I do… unless you’re the Grinch or something… and even he came around eventually.

3. Rekindle Your Literary Love Affair

Ok… so I must be honest and let you guys know that before I started receiving OwlCrate, I had severely slacked on my reading. Almost to a nonexistent level.

I know… I know. You’re all probably thinking, “How can you have a book blog Bri, and you didn’t even commit to reading like you should’ve in the past?” “We can NEVER trust you again!”

Alright, so maybe not as dramatic, but I do understand your concerns.

Let’s just say that I wasn’t that happy about my fizzled-out romance with reading either. Once upon a time, reading was all I had to get me through some of the toughest moments of my life. It was sad to see how far we had fallen. But I’m so happy to say that my lack of reading turned around the moment I discovered OwlCrate. Seriously!

Ok… so a little backstory on how OwlCrate flew into my life:

One of the supervisors at my job would talk to me about books all the time, and he would constantly hear me complain about how much I hated the fact that I didn’t read like I used to.  So, one day he suggested I check out OwlCrate and to use his special link as a reference so he can receive free boxes. The gesture may have been a selfish one on his part at the time, but what he didn’t realize is that he was reuniting my heart and my brain with their first love.

From that very first box, my enthusiasm for reading burned hotter than a mid-August day in Georgia. I quickly became consumed once more, and the doors to my new literary world were knocked off the hinges.

Inside every OwlCrate box lid comes instructions on how to connect with OwlCrate through social media.

Because of this, I discovered Bookstagram on IG and began socializing with a huge book society where many others were into the same things I was into. It really opened my eyes to a subculture that I never knew existed.  Today, I’m a part of a large book club, and I have thousands of people to connect with and freak out with about books. What more could a girl want?

This last reason may not highlight the greatness you get inside of the box, but it highlights the greatness it brought back into my life. Every relationship needs a spark to survive the times, and when it comes to my relationship with reading, OwlCrate was just the zap we needed to reignite the fire.

There it is everyone… a condensed version of why I love OwlCrate so much, and why I think you will too. I honestly feel like a kid again because I’m receiving a present stuffed with goodness every month, I’m saving money while growing my library, and my love for reading has reached new levels. I hope to hear that you have become a subscriber too and if you want to come back and gush about them like me… feel free!

If you want to give OwlCrate a try, use my referral link:  (I don’t get paid, but if I get three referrals I get a free box… no biggie 😊)
